The Bureaus of Indian Affairs and Indian Education Have the Opportunity To Implement Additional Controls To Prevent or Detect Multi-dipping of Pandemic Response Funds

Excerpt:  “We inspected the U.S. Department of the Interior’s (DOI’s) controls over pandemic response funding for Indian Country, specifically for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). Our objective was to determine whether the BIA and the BIE, after receiving nearly $2.3 billion in pandemic response funds, developed controls to prevent or detect multi-dipping to reduce the potential for misuse of pandemic response funds.”
