Excerpt: The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Egypt of AN/TPS-78 Long Range Radar and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $304 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. … The proposed sale will improve Egypt’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving its ability to detect various air threats. Egypt already operates a mixture of other radar systems and will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment and services into its armed forces.”
