Emergency Response Data System

Excerpt:  “During the 1990s, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) implemented the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) to upgrade its ability to acquire data from nuclear power plants in the event of an emergency at a plant. ERDS provides a direct real-time data transfer from licensee plant computers to the NRC Operations Center and regional incident response centers. The system was designed to be activated by the licensee during an emergency that the licensee classifies at an Alert or higher level. The NRC portion of ERDS receives the data stream and sorts and files the data.”
