Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2024

Excerpt:  “A statistical projection of traffic fatalities for 2024 shows an estimated 39,345 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes, a decrease of about 3.8 percent compared to the 40,901 fatalities reported to have occurred in 2023, as shown in Table 1. The fourth quarter of 2024 represents the 11th consecutive quarterly decline in fatalities beginning with the second quarter of 2022.”
