Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth

On April 23, 2025, President Trump signed the executive order Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth, establishing a national strategy to promote AI literacy and workforce readiness. The order emphasizes early exposure to AI concepts in K-12 education, professional development for teachers, and public-private partnerships to build accessible, high-quality AI learning resources. A White House Task Force on AI Education, led by the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, will coordinate these efforts. The initiative includes the creation of a Presidential AI Challenge to showcase student and educator innovation nationwide. Federal agencies are directed to prioritize AI in discretionary grants, apprenticeship programs, and teacher training. The Departments of Education, Labor, Agriculture, and the National Science Foundation will work to expand AI instruction, dual-enrollment opportunities, and credentialing pathways.
